About Me
I was raised equally
in both southern Wisconsin and southern California while forming my
midwest values as a kid and California roots as a youthful teenager. I
am 24 years old and have spent my whole life creating art, mostly in
the media of illustration, painting, and sculpture. Realism,
visionary, surrealism, art nouveau, and graffiti art are some of the
genres of art that I have blended and experimented with throughout my
years of creating art. Nonetheless, within the last year I began
experimenting with combining my passion for crystals and curiosity of
working with precious metals into one unified media and taught myself
the skill of cold wire metal work as well as incorporating precious
gems and minerals. Cold wire metal work basically means that there is
never a flame fired up to join the metal together, instead there is
only the wire itself twisted together, and I keep it minimal only using
a snipper, two sets of pliers and a toe nail clipper. Minimalism
reduces any chance that there wouldn't be access to machines aiding in
the process of most metal work so that I would still be able to create
my artwork.
Living in downtown Madison while developing my craft as a metal worker
I was constantly inspired by a local graffiti wall right outside my
second story window above a funky little pizza joint. The graffiti
artists set an example for me on how to dedicate myself to my artwork
with great precision and concentration. It has only been a year now
since I created my first pendant using sterling silver and crystals to
mend a fresh new media that has truly become my first passion in the
world of arts. I take my style very seriously and i am still very
humble to the artists that have been key factors to the evolution of
this art form and who have also collectively played a big part in
developing my current style. My style at this point in time can be
described as organic space matter blowing uniformly in a turbulent, yet
graceful flow. An ever evolving personal style has allowed for each
piece to become completely one of a kind which helps ignite the
personal connection between the owner and the art, all the while
creating a powerful bond both visually and metaphysically.
Thank you

respect, Casey Swanson
